Wednesday, May 12,11 am – 12 noon EDT  (8 am PDT, 4 pm GMT)

with guest song leader Moira Smiley!

A Vermont-based singer, composer and arranger, Moira Smiley has traveled the world creating new works for voices and accompanying her performances with her banjo, accordion, piano, and percussive movement. Moira has taught extensively in North America, Europe, and England. Her subject is the singing voice and its ability to encompass an astounding range of expressive, linguistic, and stylistic colors. In these times of distanced and virtual learning, Moira has adapted many of her usually-in-person offerings to fit for online opportunities!

As a composer, Moira Smiley is known worldwide for choral arrangements like Bring Me Little Water, Silvy and originals, Stand in That River and How Can I Cry. Her recordings feature spare, vocally-driven collections of warped traditional songs and original polyphony. Get ready to be enthralled by Moira’s gorgeous voice and to sing along (maybe with a dash of body percussion!) on some of her wonderful original and traditional songs.

“It’s more than just showing up and singing; when I leave after practice and certainly after performance I feel lifted up by something larger.”

Eric M.

“While we’re singing nothing else exists. It’s like a meditation with beautiful sounds and I am completely lost in the moment.”

Elin L.
